About Melissa
Welcome to my page! I’m a proud mom of two children, an occupational therapist, a writer, a nature lover, a picture-taker, and an eternal optimist. I’m an old soul drawn to exploring new places, especially those with beauty and historical significance.
Writing is my soul work, and I’m awestruck by the response to my articles and memoir, Late Bloomer: Finding My Authentic Self at Midlife. The gratitude expressed by people after reading my essays and book reinforces my belief that we are better when we share our stories. When I’m not writing, you can find me biking, hiking, beach combing, enjoying nature, capturing moments with photos, watching old movies, reading, or making homemade chicken soup. As an introvert, I value solitude and moments to be still. I split my time between New Jersey and Provincetown, Massachusetts. I enjoy chatting with people and have been a frequent guest on live panels, podcasts and radio shows discussing my journey through grief, loss, love, and self-acceptance. My personal essays appear in numerous online and in-print publications, including The Boston Globe, Salon, Kveller, Dorothy Parker’s Ashes, Writer’s Digest and in the anthologies: Art In The Time of Unbearable Crisis and Love Notes. Photography
Capturing the beauty along my travels never ceases to inspire me.
Sunrise, sunset scenes from Provincetown, the little village jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean, a source of inspiration for over a century. “If you know, you know” kind of place and for those who know, they keep coming back or they simply don’t leave.
History happened here. Ideas are born, seeds are planted, creativity breeds here. Here is where I breathe easy, rest soundly, create, heal, rejuvenate. Here is where I feel whole. This is my soul place. |
